Introduction
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Training Specialist at Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga. This role is vital to the ongoing development of our nursing staff. The ideal candidate will report directly to Judy Taljaard, the Nursing Standards Manager. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering essential clinical training to ensure that our qualified nurses and nursing students are highly competent and aligned with Life Healthcare’s strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities

1. Planning and Coordination of Clinical Training
As a Clinical Training Specialist, your primary role will be to:

  • Develop, organize, and lead clinical skills training sessions for nursing staff and students, ensuring that all training aligns with the hospital’s standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to create effective training programs that enhance clinical competencies and safety.

2. Management of In-Service Training Programs
You will be responsible for:

  • Managing in-service training programs focused on risk management, ensuring quality and compliance with hospital standards.
  • Monitoring the adherence to these training programs, participating actively in incident investigations, and facilitating preventive training sessions to minimize future risks.
  • Engaging in hospital quality improvement projects, contributing your expertise to enhance patient care and safety.

3. Ensuring Competence in Clinical Practices
It is essential to ensure that nursing staff are proficient in using medical products and procedures. You will:

  • Conduct in-service training to ensure compliance with the use of products and clinical practices.
  • Identify potential risks related to clinical delivery and implement corrective actions as needed.

4. Research and Continuous Improvement
Your role will include:

  • Conducting effective research to stay updated on relevant clinical practices and identifying any gaps in clinical delivery.
  • Investigating identified gaps, documenting findings, and formulating action plans to address them, ensuring that results are communicated effectively to the team.

5. Promoting the Nursing Profession
You will also focus on:

  • Actively participating in marketing initiatives to enhance the public image of nursing within the community.
  • Serving as a role model for the nursing profession, demonstrating high standards of clinical care and professionalism in all interactions.

6. Flexible Work Hours
This position may require you to:

  • Perform your duties during the night shift, with some daytime responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A relevant Nursing Diploma or Degree, along with a qualification in Nursing Education and a specialty.
  • At least four years of experience in nursing training and education.
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Proven leadership skills in a clinical setting.
  • A solid understanding of the legislation that governs nursing practice.
  • Familiarity with change management principles to adapt training as necessary.
  • Strong facilitation and assessment skills to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the use of training software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid driver’s license to support any necessary travel related to training programs.
