Position: Enrolled Nurse | Emergency Unit


Introduction
Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga is looking for a dedicated Enrolled Nurse to join our Emergency Unit team. This role will report to the Unit Manager, Brian Mashaba. As an Enrolled Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our nursing team and doctors work together smoothly. Your responsibilities will include effective communication and record-keeping within the unit, contributing to the overall success of patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Basic Nursing Duties
  • Perform essential nursing tasks as assigned by the unit manager or senior staff.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes to the medical team.
  1. Quality Patient Care
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to all patients, adhering strictly to your scope of practice.
  • Assist in medical procedures and ensure that patients are comfortable and well-informed.
  1. Professional Relationships
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with patients, doctors, and other healthcare team members.
  • Engage effectively in communication to support patient care.
  1. Customer Satisfaction
  • Strive to meet and exceed the needs of patients and their families, ensuring their experience at the hospital is positive.
  • Address any concerns promptly and professionally.
  1. Health and Safety Compliance
  • Follow all Health, Safety, and Infection Control Policies diligently to protect both patients and staff.
  • Participate in regular training and updates on health and safety protocols.
  1. Supervision and Guidance
  • Oversee junior nursing staff and provide guidance and support when necessary.
  • Help new staff members get acclimated to their roles and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Previous experience in an Emergency Unit is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Strong planning and organizing abilities to manage tasks efficiently.
  • Resilience and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
  • A customer-oriented mindset to ensure the best care for patients.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including shifts and weekends.
