Introduction
Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga is looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Maternity unit. This position reports directly to Anna Marie Viljoen, Unit Manager. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care and fostering strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners. Your work will be crucial in helping us meet the strategic goals of our hospital and the larger organization.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management:
- Assessing and managing employee labor hours effectively, including monitoring debit and credit hours.
- Reducing waste by ensuring that stock is used wisely and equipment is well-maintained.
Quality Patient Care:
- Implementing a specific micro-orientation program for new staff to ensure they are fully prepared for their roles.
- Conducting daily care rounds to check on patients and addressing any complaints promptly.
- Providing patients and their families with clear and accurate information throughout their hospital stay, ensuring they feel supported and informed.
Risk Management and Safety:
- Monitoring and applying preventive measures to minimize risks to patients and staff.
- Following ISO requirements to uphold high standards of infection control and safety within the maternity unit.
Relationship Management:
- Understanding and respecting doctors’ preferences and the needs of other stakeholders, integrating this knowledge into daily operations.
Requirements
- A relevant Nursing Degree or Diploma, with a crucial additional qualification in midwifery.
- Significant experience in managing maternity cases is essential.
- Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body.
- Familiarity with the private healthcare sector, including its challenges and key players, is a plus.
- Proficiency in computer applications to support patient management and documentation.
