Introduction:
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse in the MICU Section A at Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga. Reporting directly to the Unit Manager, Ella Masimula, this role is crucial in providing exceptional patient care within our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). As part of a dedicated team, you will play a key role in ensuring that all patients receive high-quality care that aligns with our clinical protocols and the strategic goals of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be involved in various important tasks that contribute to the overall success of the MICU. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Cost Management:
- Staff and Stock Oversight: Monitor and evaluate employee working hours, managing both debit and credit hours to ensure effective staffing.
- Resource Efficiency: Minimize unnecessary waste of medical supplies and facilitate the upkeep of equipment to ensure everything is functioning well.
2. Quality Patient Care:
- Orientation and Training: Ensure all new staff members undergo department-specific training to deliver consistent and safe care.
- Daily Rounds: Conduct daily care rounds to assess patient needs and address any complaints promptly.
- Patient Communication: Provide clear and accurate information to patients and their families about their care and treatment throughout their stay.
- Assisting Medical Staff: Support doctors during daily procedures and medical cases, ensuring a smooth workflow in the unit.
3. Risk Management:
- Preventative Measures: Monitor the unit for potential risks and implement preventative strategies to minimize issues.
- Hygiene Standards: Maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards in the unit to comply with infection control and safety policies.
- ISO Compliance: Adhere to ISO standards to facilitate effective infection control practices.
4. Relationship Management:
- Collaboration: Build strong relationships with internal team members and external stakeholders, understanding their needs and preferences.
- Implementation: Work to integrate the preferences of medical staff into daily operations for improved patient outcomes.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A relevant nursing degree or diploma is essential.
- Experience: At least two years of nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is required.
- Qualifications: An ICU qualification is necessary for this position.
- Registration: Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body is mandatory.
- Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of the private healthcare sector, including its challenges and key players, will be beneficial.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computers for documentation and communication.
