The ARC seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Tropical & Subtropical Crops (ARC-TSC) Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal

Job Description

  • Plant seeds and young plants; pick fruits and vegetables; water and fertilize plants; control weeds, bugs, and sicknesses in all ways and take plant samples to check them.
  • Do farm work as the boss tells you.
  • Make sure animals don’t mess with the field tests.
  • Use and take care of the tools and machines you are given.
  • Follow safety rules about wearing the right protective gear.

Job Requirements

  • Must have completed grade 10 and know simple farming methods.
  • Should know how to use basic farm tools and machines by hand.
  • Must be able to speak and write clearly.
  • Should know health and safety rules well.
  • Must be okay working in bad weather.

Competitive remuneration package will be congruent with the scope, responsibilities, and the stature of the position. The appointment will be subject to a positive security clearance and preference will be given to designated groups in terms of the ARC Employment Equity Plan. Permanent appointments are subject to six (6) months’ probation period.
