The successful applicant will report to the Chargehand or nominee.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 10 /Standard 8 Certificate.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

  • Completion of a relevant, approved training programme.
  • Advantageous: 3 months exposure to a mining/belt environment.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

  • Keep belt equipment (like the belt itself, rollers, scrapers, and safety switches) working well by keeping the area clean, which helps the mine run smoothly and get better all the time.
  • Always keep your workspace clean, including cleaning up spills to avoid damage. Keep tools in their proper place. Make sure your toolbox is safe to use.
  • Check for risks in your work area by following the rules.
  • Be responsible for keeping conveyor belts safe and working well by checking them regularly and fixing problems quickly or getting help if needed.
  • Check conveyor belt equipment closely for any issues. Keep checking all the equipment to report problems quickly to prevent breakdowns, damage, injuries, and delays in production.
  • Find any blockages in the transfer chute. Before clearing a blockage, follow lockout procedures and use tools like a pinch bar and hammer.
  • Tell the Control Room and then restart the belt.

The chosen person will be hired under Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine’s work rules, including passing a medical exam as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
