Fire Fighter Leadership

This organized plan mixes learning at work with classroom-style education, so students get skills and real-world practice. Those who do well will finish tests and take part in activities that get them ready for work. This will prepare them for a good career in fire and emergency services that is both hard and satisfying.

Purpose of Job

Take part in and finish the Learnership program for the specific area you’re training in.

Learnerships are training plans where you learn by doing actual work, along with classes or organized study.

Placement: Secunda & Sasolburg, South Africa
Ending Date: 15 September 2025
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (Learnership Programme)
Number of Positions: 14 (6 in Secunda, 8 in Sasolburg)

Key Responsibilities

As a Learner Fire Fighter, you will:

• Be an active member of the Learnership program.
• Finish all the tests and reviews needed.
• Take part in activities that get you ready for work and practice putting out fires.
• Follow Sasol’s safety rules and how they want things done.

Minimum Requirements

• A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent with passes in: Technical Mathematics/Mathematics English/Business English Technical/Physical Science
• A valid Code B (or higher) Driver’s Licence
• The ability to pass: Stress and fear assessments (heights, confined spaces, fire exposure) Fire fighter fitness assessment

Candidates must demonstrate:

• Able to learn quickly and change as needed.
• Good at organizing work and making plans.
• Understands the rules and processes.
• Can handle difficult situations and take responsibility.
• Aware of own strengths and weaknesses and wants to improve.
• Good at working together, getting things done, and making things better.
