Life Anncron Hospital is excited to announce an opening for the role of Stores Assistant. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our pharmacy team. This role is essential for ensuring that our stock management processes run smoothly, contributing to the overall efficiency of the pharmacy and the hospital. Key Responsibilities
As a Stores Assistant, your main tasks will include:
- Receiving and Unpacking Stock: You will be responsible for receiving surgical stock deliveries, unpacking them carefully, and ensuring they are stored properly.
- Good Housekeeping Practices: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is crucial. You will implement good housekeeping practices to keep the pharmacy area tidy and safe.
- Labeling Surgical Bins: Regularly labeling surgical bins within the pharmacy to ensure all items are easily identifiable.
- Stock Distribution: Assisting with the distribution of stock to different units through automated transfers (MRP).
- Cycle Counts and Stock Takes: Participating in regular cycle counts and stock audits to keep inventory accurate.
- Processing Credits: Handling stock credits according to established procedures.
- Maintaining Item Codes: Ensuring that item codes for wards and the pharmacy are up to date and accurate.
- Managing Dead Stock: Assisting in the identification and management of dead stock within the pharmacy.
- Handling Overstock: Helping with the management of overstock situations, ensuring that excess inventory is minimized.
- Expiry Dates and Stock Rotation: Keeping track of expiry dates, damaged items, and ensuring stock is rotated properly to reduce waste.
- Prescription Deliveries: When necessary, assisting in the pick-up and delivery of prescriptions between the wards and pharmacy.
- Administrative Duties: Supporting general clerical and administrative tasks within the pharmacy.
- Alert Reporting: Driving a culture of 100% alert reporting for any stock issues or discrepancies.
- Responding to Queries: Effectively responding to queries from nursing staff and other hospital departments in a timely manner.
- Building Relationships: Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with nursing staff and other departments within the hospital to promote teamwork and collaboration.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Grade 12 certificate is essential.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computers and familiarity with online systems is necessary. Knowledge of Excel is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience as a Pharmacy Store Assistant is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Teamwork: You must be able to work effectively within a team and strive to meet collective goals.
- Physical Capability: This role involves physical work, so you should be prepared for the demands of a labor-intensive position.
- Healthcare Understanding: An understanding of the private healthcare industry, including its challenges and key players, is beneficial.
- Ability to Work Under Pressure: You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling stress effectively.
