Introduction:
Life Cosmos Hospital is looking for a dedicated Nurse Manager to join our team. In this important role, you will oversee and coordinate all nursing activities within our facility, ensuring that we meet our goals related to growth, quality care, and staff wellbeing. You will be reporting directly to Joe Koekemoer, our Hospital Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about nursing leadership and making a positive impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Nurse Manager, your role will involve several key responsibilities:

1. Operational Management:

• Ensure that clinical outcomes meet the hospital’s standards by working closely with Unit Managers to identify and manage clinical care risks.
• Develop and implement effective nursing care strategies while regularly reviewing progress with a multidisciplinary team.
• Drive compliance with Life Healthcare’s (LHC) clinical standards, ensuring a safe environment for both patients and staff.
• Participate in various quality improvement initiatives to enhance nursing services and patient safety.

1. Financial Oversight:

• Plan and monitor the nursing department’s budget on a monthly basis.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to manage labor costs while aligning with patient needs and hospital activities.
• Maintain a strong focus on financial efficiency to ensure we meet our financial goals.

1. People Management:

• Actively engage in Hospital Management Committee meetings to discuss operations and staff needs.
• Recruit, train, and retain nursing staff according to LHC policies, while ensuring that they feel motivated and supported in their roles.
• Foster a positive working environment that encourages professional growth and development.

1. Relationship Building:

• Establish strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders by participating in various forums and cross-functional initiatives.
• Seek out networking opportunities to promote collaboration and partnership within the healthcare community.

1. Marketing and Community Engagement:

• Promote the nursing profession and the services provided by Life Cosmos Hospital within the local community.
• Participate in marketing initiatives that highlight the importance of nursing as a career.
• Drive formal training and continuous professional development (CPD) for nurses to address workforce shortages and enhance skill levels.

1. Governance and Risk Management:

• Ensure that departmental governance is managed effectively, upholding high standards of ethics and risk management.
• Implement appropriate controls and transparency in all processes to maintain accountability.

Requirements:
To qualify for the Nurse Manager position, you should have the following:

• A Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• A post-graduate qualification will be an advantage.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
• Relevant clinical experience in relation to the key responsibilities of this role.
• Proven leadership and management skills within the healthcare field, ideally in a private hospital setting.
• Basic understanding of labor laws and regulations.
• Awareness of business principles and a commercial mindset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
