Introduction
We are excited to announce a job opening for a Registered Nurse specializing in trauma care at Life Cosmos Hospital, located in Mpumalanga. This position reports directly to the Unit Manager and is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care in our busy Emergency Unit. The successful candidate will work closely with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to ensure that our patients receive the best possible treatment in line with the hospital’s clinical guidelines and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Patient Care
- Collaborate with fellow team members to provide high-quality care to patients in the Emergency Unit.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their needs and develop appropriate care plans.
- Ensure that all nursing staff undergo specific orientation related to the department, helping them understand the unit’s protocols and practices.
- Assist physicians in performing various procedures and treatments during daily rounds.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing them with clear and accurate information about their conditions and treatments during their hospital stay.
- Address and investigate any patient complaints promptly to ensure their concerns are resolved.
- Cost Management
- Monitor and manage employee labor hours effectively, ensuring optimal staffing levels without exceeding budget limits.
- Reduce unnecessary waste of medical supplies and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained to avoid unnecessary expenses.
- Risk Management and Infection Control
- Implement and monitor preventive measures to minimize risks associated with patient care.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the unit to adhere to infection control policies and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards to facilitate effective infection control practices and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Building Relationships with Stakeholders
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with doctors, other healthcare providers, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Understand the preferences of the doctors and other stakeholders, implementing their needs in the daily operations of the unit.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- Prior nursing experience is essential.
- A specialized qualification in trauma care will be an added advantage.
- Current registration with the appropriate professional or regulatory body is required.
- A basic understanding of the private healthcare industry, including its challenges and key players, is a plus.
- Proficiency in computer use is necessary.
