Job Title: Registered Nurse | SICU
Location: Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga
Department: Nursing

Introduction:
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Life Cosmos Hospital. In this role, you will work closely with the Unit Manager and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that we meet the clinical standards set by both the hospital and our broader company goals.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse in the SICU, you will be entrusted with various important tasks, including:

  • Cost Management:
  • Monitor and evaluate staff labor hours to effectively manage both debit and credit hours, ensuring that we operate efficiently.
  • Strive to minimize waste of supplies and facilitate the maintenance and proper usage of medical equipment.
  • Quality Patient Care:
  • Ensure that all new staff members receive department-specific training to help them integrate smoothly into the team.
  • Conduct daily rounds to assess patient conditions and promptly address any complaints or concerns.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to patients and their families about their care during their hospital stay.
  • Assist physicians in carrying out daily procedures and cases, contributing to the overall efficiency of the unit.
  • Risk Management:
  • Implement preventive measures to reduce risks related to patient safety and health.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the unit to comply with infection control policies.
  • Adhere to ISO requirements to support effective infection control measures.
  • Building Relationships:
  • Foster effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including doctors and support staff.
  • Understand the preferences of physicians and the needs of other stakeholders to enhance the working environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following:

  • A relevant degree or diploma in nursing.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience in an ICU setting is essential.
  • An ICU qualification is an added advantage.
  • Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
  • Familiarity with the private healthcare sector, including its challenges and key players, is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in computer use is required for documentation and communication.
