Introduction
Life Peglerae Hospital is excited to announce a job opening for a Theatre Manager who is qualified and ready to take on a leadership role in our theatre complex. This position is crucial as you will be responsible for guiding and coordinating all activities in the theatre, ensuring that we meet clinical protocols and align with the hospital’s and company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

As the Theatre Manager, your main duties will include:

  • Stock Management:
  • Regularly review and maintain inventory reports to ensure stock levels are appropriate.
  • Oversee product management, which includes implementing changes to formularies and improving processes for product use.
  • Communicate with theatre staff and doctors to ensure they are aware of formulary products.
  • Control supplier access to the theatre by following proper procedures for supplier representatives.
  • Theatre Utilization:
  • Efficiently allocate theatre time to doctors to maximize usage and minimize delays.
  • Reduce overtime by updating shift schedules and organizing call lists effectively.
  • People Management:
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by supporting initiatives and ensuring that any changes are embraced.
  • Work with the nursing team to create a staffing plan that recruits high-quality staff.
  • Inspire positive work behavior among theatre staff.
  • Create opportunities for staff development to help them achieve their career goals and ensure they have relevant Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
  • Performance Management:
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and acknowledge top performers to boost morale.
  • Ensure all employee compensation and benefits processing is completed accurately.
  • Foster good relationships with employees by adhering to Industrial Relations (IR) policies and promoting wellness strategies for a balanced work-life environment.
  • Doctor Relations:
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with doctors by promptly addressing their needs and requests.
  • Quality Systems Management:
  • Focus on continuous improvement in patient safety and ensure compliance with ISO standards.
  • Participate in meetings regarding operations, clinical issues, and risk management to provide input into budgeting and capital expenditure discussions.

Requirements
To qualify for this position, you should have:

  • Effective clinical leadership skills.
  • A relevant Theatre qualification (Post-Basic Theatre qualification or Diploma).
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a professional nurse.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant theatre experience in a managerial role.
  • A management qualification is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage your outputs responsibly.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
