GOAL:
Carry out bricklaying, paving and concrete tasks in and around water and sewer network infrastructure.

MAIN DUTIES:

Submit daily job reports. Complete all check sheets and overtime forms accurately before leaving. Fill out Vehicle Inspection sheets, driver logs daily and give them to the Foreman or Operations Manager on a weekly basis. Submit monthly petrol slips as per Johannesburg Water Vehicle Policy. Enforce safety at work based on OHASA, SANS and JW Safety procedures. Keep positive work relationships and communicate well following company values.

Keep a good image with the public. Build walls, chambers, steps, pillars, culverts, valve, meter, and hydrant boxes. Tile floors and walls as instructed. Plaster walls as directed. Dig foundations according to plans, including compacting the ground. Mix cement and concrete to the required amounts. Put together bending schedules as shown in the plans.

Maintain good relation with public. Construct walls, chambers, steps, pillars, culverts, valve, meter and hydrant boxes. Tiling of floors and walls as directed. Plastering of walls as directed. Excavate foundations as per plan of which includes compaction of subsoil. Mixing of cement and concrete as per specification. Assembling bending schedule as per plan. Building of forms for casting of concrete slabs and chamber decks as per design. Propping and shuttering of chambers and decks as per design. Reinstate road kerbs, guttering, paving and driveways as directed. Cutting in and building of doors and windows on existing buildings. Maintain Depot building in terms of building maintenance practices as directed Completion and repairing of outstanding work left by contractors and/or other user departments. Excavate, shoring and backfilling of job related duties with full regards for the safety of subordinates in terms of OHAS.

JOB NEEDS: REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

-A Grade 10 or N1 (NQF2) education plus a bricklaying certificate/ NQF 4 training.

-Three years of experience in building/bricklaying and paving (bricks, concrete).

-Basic supervising experience

-A current Code 10 driver’s license with PrDP

Job Description

STIPEND: R366 144 BASIC ANNUAL SALARY

VACANCY GOAL:

To handle welding and making repairs for all maintenance work across six Network Regions, including EM Depots, Telemetry, Metering, Small Plants, Electrical areas, Reservoir sites, and Sewer pump stations. Follow OHASA and SANS safety rules. Also, to build standard and custom parts at the Welding Workshop.

DUTIES:

Properly fill out all work orders, checklists and overtime sheets are filled in correctly submitted before end of shift. Fill out vehicle Inspection sheets, Logbooks every day and give them to the Foreman weekly. Submission of all petrol slips once a month as per Johannesburg Water Vehicle Policy. Minimal supervision from Workshop Foreman.

Supervise subordinates to achieve sections goals and objectives. Feedback daily to Foreman of every job completed and progress of planned jobs within allocated time frames. Ensure and promote workplace safety in terms of OHASA and J.W. codes of practice. Check welding equipment daily and report any defects to Workshop Foreman. Asses excavations, confined spaces before entering, in terms of HT cables, gas lines and other potential hazards and risks .

Fix water and sewer systems in all areas when asked. Make and put in things like Y-joints, T-joints, collars, spool pieces, manhole covers, ladders, pipe clamps, cover plates, locks, panels, light holders, sewer baskets, rail brackets, and fix pipes from small to very large sizes. Help contractors at work sites as the Foreman tells you. Take over work from contractors when the Manager says so. Change machines and equipment, including fuel tanks, body parts, trailer frames, battery holders, wheels, and water tanks. Lift big, heavy pipes and water system parts. Fix and install pipes at work sites. Check and guide digging to make repairs. Decide on and suggest the best ways to do things on site. Do standby, overtime, and emergency work as agreed. Quickly respond to call-outs and breakdowns of machines, equipment, and water and sewer systems.

JOB CONDITIONS: WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

-A Grade 10 or N1 (NQF level 2) AND a welding trade test certificate OR a suitable NQF level 4 learnership.

-3 years of welding experience, mostly with big pipelines. You must know how to do gas and arc welding.

-Some experience leading others.

-A current Code 10 driver’s license and a Professional Driving Permit.

STIPEND: R366 144 YEARLY SALARY

JOB GOAL:

-To take care of fixing, keeping up, and making sure all mechanical equipment, towers, and water pumping stations work well and are ready to use. This must be done following safety rules (OHASA) and standards (SANS).

DUTIES:

Carry out repairs and maintain mechanical equipment like pumps, level controllers, pressure valves, regular valves, and extra parts, Level controls, PRV`S (Pressure reducing valves), Valves and auxiliaries. Execute planned maintenance according to Johannesburg Water Maintenance schedules and SOPS. Carry out standby duties and emergency work of which must include feedback to the Telemetry control room on callouts. Carry out monthly toolbox checks to comply with safety norms and standards. Inform Operations Manager on any irregular maintenance issues regarding Plant, Equipment and Facilities. Assist with the effective and productive planning of jobs in the section as directed by the Supervisor. Assist with the investigation of pump station and reservoir operating methods in order to enhance the systems performance. Ensure that all work orders, check sheets and overtime sheets are filled in correctly before end of shift.
