Job Overview
Life Cosmos Hospital is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The chosen candidate will work closely with the Unit Manager, Corrie du Plessis, and will be integral in delivering top-notch patient care to our tiniest and most vulnerable patients. This role requires a compassionate individual who is passionate about neonatal care and is committed to following clinical protocols and hospital objectives to enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse in the NICU, you will be entrusted with several important tasks, including but not limited to:
- Quality Patient Care:
- Deliver exceptional care to newborns in the NICU, ensuring each patient receives personalized attention in line with hospital protocols.
- Conduct daily rounds and closely monitor patients, ensuring any complaints or concerns are addressed swiftly and effectively.
- Provide thorough and accurate information to patients’ families regarding their loved ones’ conditions, treatments, and care plans.
- Assist physicians during daily medical procedures and examinations, ensuring the highest level of care and support.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor staff working hours to ensure efficient labor management and minimize overtime.
- Keep track of medical supplies and equipment, working to reduce waste and ensuring all tools are well-maintained and ready for use.
- Risk Management and Safety:
- Implement and monitor infection control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.
- Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in the unit, complying with ISO regulations to promote health and safety for everyone.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Foster positive working relationships with internal staff, external stakeholders, and families, understanding and addressing their preferences and needs effectively.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to create a supportive and efficient healthcare environment.
Requirements
To be considered for this vital role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing is required.
- Experience: Previous nursing experience, especially in a NICU or similar environment, is essential.
- Registration: Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body is a must.
- Healthcare Knowledge: Understanding the private healthcare sector and its unique challenges will be an advantage.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills are necessary for documentation and communication purposes.
